Happy Birthday Lola

Today my Lola(Grandma) turns 96. How awesome is that?! And she's getting stronger each year believe it or not. I'd say today is a special day but the reality is that every chance I get to see her is a special day. I've been very fortunate enough to see her a lot this past year and I've loved every minute of it. It's our typical McDs lunch at Tita Daisy's. She has her Filet-o-fish and fries and I have my cheeseburger and fries. We simply sit, eat and chat about life. It's one of the most calming and happiest times of my life and will always be. So I decided to look for a little poem or saying to help me better describe what an incredibly beautiful person my Lola is and I came up with the quote below by Barbara Cage. That's my Lola. I love you Lola!

Summer of 2010 flyin' by

Last 6 weeks has been a blur. Got my first round of golf in with my good buddy Simon. Celebrated my Lola's 95th birthday in Chicago. Danced with my mom who is way better than me. Hung out with the little ones in Chicago, the zoo and even had a powdered donut breakfast with them. Back to Chicago for a good buddy's bachelor party and a couple weekend trips up to Breckenridge. August is just as jammed packed and looking forward to all of it. Photos below of the last 6 weeks.

A short video of an organized 100 mile ride I did with my sister, brother, sis-n-law and bro-n-law. What an amazing day with great weather and riding with my family. They really dug deep to finish what was a very challenging course. Lacey just bought a road bike and had limited training time but man did she kill it. John and Claudine crushed it also finishing ahead of everyone. My bro was getting stronger as the day passed so I know he had been training. It's nice to chill out and do rides like this with my family and friends instead of racing. I've got to squeeze a couple more of these epic rides in between races this summer. What's next?

The day is coming soon...

when my nephews become equally as good as me at skiing. Each time I get to ski with them I'm just so impressed with how much they improve. We have a great time and they love skiing and pushing themselves to get better. Watching Cole ski moguls down The Burn at Breck is so cool. The kid has to wait for me! Watching Luke taking moguls down blue-black runs without second guessing himself is awesome. And to think we have Mak, Quinners and Shank the Tank yet to learn how to ski or snowboard...man we're going to have one heck of a big ski family. My Sisters Rock!

As much as our family skis and snowboards it's very rare that we get to hangout together but when we do it's fun, a lot of fun. I get a good laugh when I see my sisters face plant and they get a kick out of me taking a digger. I had a chance to ski with my sister Claudine yesterday and man she's a great snowboarder. For someone who hasn't done it for a long time and doesn't get many days in I'm truly impressed. Check her out.

New Addition

My step-brother Ryan and step-sister Hilary just had a wonderful baby girl this morning. Our family is getting bigger one baby at a time. In the past year we've had 3 little ones join our family and I love it. Now two nieces, pretty cool. Looking forward to getting back to Chicago to see Avery Sophia.

mEmORiaL DAy WeeKEND PiC BLOg

This weekend is not even over yet but man has our family been busy. Parents flew in Friday and after a quick trip to Breckenridge we started the weekend off with Makenna's 2nd birthday party at a great little park in Colorado Springs. Next up, Quinn's Baptism followed by some killer BBQ and pansit action by my Tito Carlos. Always great to have family in town so I can eat my weight in Filipino food for the year. To top things off my sis Claudine decided to have her baby on Sunday so we now have a baby Jr. Shank in the family. Pretty cool. I tell ya what having as many little ones as I do as a Tito (uncle) is tiring but man is it fun. Alright back to the weekend. Enjoy the pics! More to come I'm sure.
