Floyd Landis Loses Doping Appeal....FINALLY!

It's official, he's guilty and it's nice that the sport of cycling can close another chapter in the who's who of cheating cyclist. I kinda feel bad for this guy considering all the time and $$$ he spent trying to clean-up his name. Only Floyd will truly know if he doped or not. Dopers Suck!

3 Weeks...

until my bum is chillin in Kauai. But before that happens I have a ton of work to do both on and off the bike. I have three races scheduled before my trip and one being the Colorado State Championship Crit. which is something I dream of winning. It's a bit of a long shot since my major goal is to be in top condition come August but I sure will try and see what happens. I'm pretty much treating the next three weeks like one big huge long training camp with 10 days of R & R in Hawaii. I'll continue to train in Hawaii and then I'll do specific rides to prep me for all the August races. Winning races in August starts now so these 3 weeks are crucial to me. I look forward to some hard rides and lots of miles!!

Wounds are healing, legs are spinning, life is good.

This weekend was a busy one yet I was able to get in two solid days of training. It was also the first hot weekend in Colorado so I took my training into the mountains to stay cool. With no racing planned for at least a few weeks I'm looking forward to many hard day's on the bike with the ultimate goal of going really fast in August. I'll do a huge block up until my trip to Hawaii and then recover before a little fine tuning for the August races. I want to win one race in August and it's a bit of a stretch but with a little luck and some hard fun training who knows?

Son of a bi$#@ are you fu&*%^$# kidding me?!

I crashed for the second time in 10 days and it sucks! This time it involved other racers who happened to stack it in front of me at 30+ mph and I had nowhere to go but straight into the pile-up. I found myself flying over the guy in front me only to hit the deck pretty hard with my right hip and back. Nothing like having road rash on both sides of your body but I must say I'm lucky with no broken bones. I have been using Neosporin like lotion and now I'm beginning to think I need to hit up Costco for the jumbo version, you know the 5 gallon one that comes with a dispenser. This sport is tough and although I hit many peaks this past spring I'm just now seeing the valleys and I want out. Oh I'm not giving up yet but when I win my first Pro 1/2 race this year I just might consider trading in my road bike for a Ducati Monster 695. Alls I'm sayin'

Okay so maybe my crash wasn't that bad.

I don't run, I'm NOT a runner...

but on Sunday I managed to finish the Garden of Gods 10 mile run without training for the event. I ran once for 30 minutes about a month ago and that was it for training. I skipped the Bolder Boulder but was somehow convinced by Michael and Lacey to "just run it". I averaged about 10 minute miles for a super hilly course so I'm pretty excited about finishing this race AND I got a really cool Dri-fit tech shirt out of the whole race which was the only reason why I registered for the race. I also got the lucky number 13 before the race so that only made things a bit more sketchy and it wasn't until about mile 6 that I knew I could finish this race. I'm glad I went through with the race and even more glad I finished injury-free which was my biggest concern. So if you are a runner and you like running you should do this race next year and I'll be there with a big cup of joe to cheer you on with each passing mile.

HaPpY BIrtHdAy MaKENna!!!

Makenna turns the big Uno today. I can't believe a year has gone by since this little niece of mine entered this world. I'm one of the luckiest uncles in town being able to drive just over an hour to see her. She brings a lot of happiness to my life and to anyone who catches her smile and for that I'm grateful. To have a happy and healthy niece in my life, well life is good...life is really good. Happy Birthday Makenna.

Hugo RR & City Park Crit.

Another intense weekend of racing and man did I leave it all on the road...literally. Saturday Michael and I made the epic 2 hour drive east of Denver to a town called Hugo. Why would you ever know the town of Hugo? 2 possibilities the first being you are a bike racer and you come once a year to race or for some crazy reason you exited I-70 in hopes for a shortcut to Texas. The road race was a 78 mile course and man was it a beautiful day to race. 80 degrees, sunny and a slight breeze to keep you cool. Unfortunately my brother's race ended around the 25 mile mark after suffering 3 flats. With only 4 teammates in our race we decided to play our first card by putting Ian in a break and see if it could last to the finish. I ended up covering moves for the next 30+ miles trying to make sure the break with Ian in it stayed away. There was a wreck that caused a split in the group and we ended up chasing a group of 10 in front of us but never caught them. They eventually caught the lead break. We end up with 5th, 8th, 10th and 11th so not bad but it wasn't a win. I ended up 8th and this would be my last Cat. 3 race.

Yesterday was the City Park Crit. which was also my first race of this season and my first Cat. 3 win. I decided this race would also be my first Pro 1/2 race. It was a pretty cool feeling lining up with pro guys from Team Type 1, Slipstream, Jelly Belly and also the top elite teams in Colorado. I had a ton of cheers with family, friends and co-workers out supporting me so it was a blast. The race itself was intense and there were only a few times I felt really comfortable. The rest of my time was spent focusing on holding the wheel in front of me. My legs felt heavy and a little sore from the Hugo RR so I hope to be aggressive in the next few crits. I lasted in the main group but then got dropped with 5 laps to go and it was a good feeling to look back and find 15+ guys still chasing behind me. One lap to go and I take the tightest corner pretty fast only to find out my front tire is flat as I skipped across the pavement. Yeah I don't recommend body surfing on pavement. So that was my first crash of the season and I'm lust glad it was only a little road rash. I'll be back and I'll be back to win.

Finally I must say I'm on the best team. I mean what team moons you while cheering your name during the pro race? I laughed my ass off and so did the entire pro field. We have fun racing, maybe too much fun. Ghnoooo!!
